I would absolutely be thrilled to participate in something like this! I like the FB group idea - any way we could all stay in touch and have a very conversationally-feeling discussion.

And would love fun feminist reads, classic feminist reads, or any book that intrigues us - it'd be fascinating to be able to examine any work from a feminist view point without getting attacked for it.

Also would just be great to read books by female writers or featuring strong female characters...

great idea! LOVE IT! I read constantly, always thinking, researching...did my M.A. in feminist psychotherapy, which was 1/2 feminist psych and 1/2 women's studies. There are many feminist classics that I want to/need to re-read, re-visit, and I'd love to do this in a group context. I wonder if we could do this in a way that we could actually talk to one another? Like blogtalkradio? And then those of us who want to blog, can do that also? I'm just throwing out ideas...also, what about also making this a group on FB?

For Special K's question about book selections, I envision mixing fiction and non-fiction. I also envision mixing different types of non-fiction -- memoirs, feminist academic texts, works featuring intersections (race, class, sexuality, etc.).

I think to get started, I'll be asking folks for their recommendations. It'll probably be easiest to choose the first one or two at random or strategically or something, but from there on out, we can try to vote for future selections after we see how it goes for a while.
