So far this has moved to the top of my list.<BR/><BR/>Any other ideas out there?frau sally benzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01054413520223145494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2291200544675330796.post-51578889080483622102008-12-23T12:56:00.000-05:002008-12-23T12:56:00.000-05:00You've already got a pie; how about a cake?<BR/><BR/>Chocolate Sheet Cake<BR/><BR/>For the cake:<BR/>2 C granulated sugar<BR/>2 C flour<BR/>4 T cocoa<BR/>2 sticks butter<BR/>1 C water<BR/>2 eggs<BR/>1 t baking soda<BR/>1/2 C buttermilk<BR/>1 t vanilla<BR/><BR/>For the frosting:<BR/>1 stick margarine<BR/>6 T milk<BR/>1 C marshmallows<BR/>2 T cocoa<BR/>1 t vanilla<BR/>1 16-ounce box confectioner's sugar<BR/><BR/>Grease and flour a 13 x 11 (13 x 9 works too) pan.<BR/><BR/>Preheat oven to 350.<BR/><BR/>Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa in a mixing bowl.<BR/><BR/>In a saucepan, melt butter in the water; when boiling, pour over dry ingredients and beat well.<BR/><BR/>Add egss. Beat well.<BR/><BR/>Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk and add to batter. Beat well.<BR/><BR/>Add vanilla. Beat to incorporate.<BR/><BR/>Pour into pan and bake about 30 minutes, or until done.<BR/><BR/>IMPORTANT: Leave cake in pan and frost while hot. To make the frosting:<BR/><BR/>Put margarine, milk, marshmallows, and oocoa in a heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat until marshmallows melt. Add vanilla. Blend in confectioner's sugar, beating until smooth. Spread warm frosting on hot cake.<BR/><BR/>After all that, you'll want to cover with foil and chill it for at least a couple of hours, and overnight is better. The frosting "sets up" upon cooling and forms a light layer of fudge over the top of the cake. The cake, meanwhile, stays rich and moist by virtue of being sealed in by the pan and the fudge frosting.
