Like many women out there, I don't much enjoy having my period. I don't hate it or anything, though I understand that many of us are taught to hate it. I just always wish I didn't actually have to deal with it. Running out of pads or tampons, picking out the right size, having to change them all the time. It's just too annoying.
I can't remember where I first learned about Lunapads or the Diva Cup, but I've wanted to try them out basically since I heard about them. The stars finally aligned, I had the money to get them and the brain power to actually remember to get them.
A couple of months ago, I got two organic cotton pantyliners, and a Diva Cup and it is the awesomest decision I've ever made. The entire experience has been great. When I got the package in the mail, I literally jumped up and down in the hallway. When I saw the cool stickers, I giggled like a school girl. And when I finally got to try it all out... well, okay, I didn't do either of those things. Mostly, I freaked out.
The first Diva Cup insertion experience was a bit awkward and I tried it about 5 times before I was confident that I'd gotten it right. I put on my eco-friendly pantyliner just to be on the safe side, and then went about my day. Of course, I went to the bathroom about 10 times more than usual just to make sure everything was okay, but I'm also hella paranoid. The first time I wore a tampon, I tugged on it so hard to make sure it wasn't going anywhere that I actually hurt myself. (Don't try that at home, folks.)
But, okay, after the first couple of wears, my paranoia went down some and I actually enjoyed having my period. There was no leakage, no injury, no discomfort, nothing.
So go out there and give it a try. You'll be saving money, helping the environment, and having a healthier period. Don't believe me? Check this out. And remember to have a happy period. =)

thanks for sharing this. i hate tampons. i'm always freaking out about not having enough. plus my job requires me to wear khaki, so there's that possible nightmare. i am definitely going to get my own diva cup now.
